Match Preview: Penistone Church (A)

AFC Mansfield will look to build on Saturday's late victory by making the journey to South Yorkshire, with Penistone Church in the Bulls' sights.

Previous meeting

The reverse fixture between these two sides was an underwhelming one, for the second half to say the least.

A first half brace from attacker Lynton Karkach put the Bulls in firm position heading into the second half, but an inspired performance from Penistone in the second half saw Kieran Ryan and Nicky Guest bring the game back to a 2-2 draw.

Previously it was much more happy days for Mansfield, as goals from Josh Wilde, Matthew Sykes and a brace from Ross Duggan overcame Charlie Baird's goal to clinch a crucial 4-1 victory.

Form guide

The Bulls have got their season back on track with a very productive week last week, as the signings of Alfie Dodsworth and Jake Batty inspired Mansfield to victory over Athersley Recreation.

Prior to the match, defeats to Eccleshill United, Newark and Goole were softened by a fantastically well-fought triumph over high-flyers Garforth Town.

Penistone on the other hand currently sit in 6th position, and deservedly so. Four victories on the bounce, over Sherwood Colliery, Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Staveley Miners Welfare and Athersley Recreation sees Stephen Lenthall's side pushing for promotion.
