Karkach on rejoining the Bulls

New arrival Lynton Karkach said he expects AFC to be at the competitive end of the NCEL Premier Division table when they return to action next season.

The forward signed a one-year deal with the Bulls this weekend, marking the beginning of a second spell with the club.

"I'd like to think we've got a good chance of being bang up there," he said, "I wouldn't have come if I honestly didn't believe that.

"With the lads at the club already and a couple of names who I've heard were looking at, there's no reason why we can't be up there."

With a century of appearances and 24 goals to his name in his first two-and-a-half-year spell with the club, the attacker is no stranger to Forest Town, nor to the NCEL for that matter.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last time, I know a lot of the boys and obviously the Chairman too.

"The manager seems to have a clear picture of where we want to get to, so it all fell perfectly into place for me to come back."

Though only 23, Karkach already has two promotions to the Northern Premier League under his belt, first with the Bulls in 2018 before winning the NCEL league and cup double with Worksop Town a year later.

It was clear that his recent successes have only fuelled his desire for more: "I'd like to think I've got a good idea of how to get promoted from this league.

"You've got to be ready for anything to be thrown at you and be adaptable - I'm hungry to add another promotion to that record."

When Karkach was last at the Forest Town Arena, former boss Rudy Funk was the man at the helm - the management has since changed hands twice, with Matt Chatfield in charge since last summer.

To the new arrival, however, there won't be any problems in adapting to a new manager: "From chatting to him, it's clear he wants to play the game in the right way and play good football.

"I hope it will suit my game well, but I'm sure it will."

It remains unclear as to when football will return and the new season will begin, but Karkach remains excited as ever to get started.

"I'm completely ready to start again, I can't wait to get going as soon as we can," he said.

"With the team we've got I'm very excited for the season to get underway."
