The management duo were pleased with a comprehensive victory over bottom-of-the-table Gresley, but weren't too quick to heap all the praise.
After weathering a storm of Gresley advances in the first half, goals from Jack Broadhead, Jordan Annable and Ollie Fearon put the result beyond doubt and further cemented AFC's hopes of survival with a 3-0 win.
But despite netting three times with the potential to score more and keeping a clean sheet, manager Mark Ward and his assistant made it heard that they weren't happy with their side at the break.
"We just wanted a response," assistant manager Jon Froggatt told Bulls TV in the post-match interview, "their actions on the pitch (in the first half) weren't great and we just had some words at half-time.
"We could have quite easily gone in there two or three down at half-time and we couldn't have had any complaints.
"Luckily for us we didn't, we went in one-nil up and obviously the team talk at half-time worked like chalk and cheese."
The gaffer said that despite East Division safety looking all but certain, he expects his team to keep playing to as high a standard as possible.
"For these last three games I would just like to see some consistency even though we may be safe, mathematically or not," Ward said.
"I want us to really have a good go and just try to finish as high as possible, not just think we're safe now and go through the motions - that's the most frustrating thing you can get as a management team.
"I want to see us react from this and put a performance in against Stamford, Carlton and Frickley in the last three games.
"We're not going to think that the job's done, but I do think (the win) takes a little bit of pressure off."
